Music has always played a really big role in my life. From the moment my mum shoved me a wailing screaming newborn into the arms of my dad as he returned home from his second job as a nighttime London Cabbie and demanded/pleaded for my dad to drive me around the block to see if the movement would finally send me to sleep.
3 am, exhausted but knowing better than to argue with his wife, my dad did as he was told, strapped me in the car, turned on one of his mixtapes and off we went around the block until I did, eventually fall asleep.
From that point forward, it became a ritual for me and an act of a father’s love; in the dead of the night/ waking hours of the morning together we would drive around the block. The music, the movement, the mindfulness became my way to find stillness in the storm.
Whenever I have the opportunity within the experiences I create for work, I love to make soundtracks and soundscapes for guests to craft, move to, and write to.
Today I wanted to share with you one of the soundscapes I created for the guests who came to the inaugural Twice as Nourished: Burn to Bloom Supper Club. in March 2022
I really enjoyed listening to it on my walk at the weekend. & as I listened to it so many noticings came to light.
The noticings that were hidden within my body as it moved at my own pace
The noticings hidden with the melodies
The noticings hidden within the lyrics
Press Play and enjoy, and see what noticings come up for you …
